| Mon. 19th May |
The Healing Power of Horary |
| Denver, USA |
Lecture 14; track 14 of the United Astrology Conference (UAC 2008). |
|
Intro:
Horary is labeled a "predictive tool," but much value lies in its ability to explore the discarded realities of the past. By looking at the chart as the insignia of the problem, we open up the client's options rather than close them down towards one inevitable conclusion. This talk, based upon proven case histories, demonstrates horary as a powerful technique for allowing clients to overcome their fears and gain confidence in their choices for the future.

One Day Workshop: 'Forensic Horary' |
| San Francisco, USA |
Organised by The San Francisco Astrological Society, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM |
|
Intro:
In many horary charts, the key to the successful judgment lies in discovering something significant about an event that has already happened. This is especially the case with charts involving missing persons or pets, where we need to extract every vital clue from the chart that we possibly can. From missing objects, lost pets, through to identifying the perpetrator of a crime, this one-day workshop highlights the most important and reliable techniques used in judging ‘mystery’ charts. (Based on proven case histories and suitable for all levels of horary experience). Read an interview with Nina Gryphon which offers more information about this workshop.

Blast, day 3, Medieval: 'Ptolemy’s Terms and Conditions' |
| Sedona, nr Phoenix, USA |
Organised by Blast Astrology Conference, Sedona, AZ, 10:40 - 11:50 am |
|
Intro:
Most astrologers using the so-called ‘Ptolemaic terms’ adhere to the values given in William Lilly’s Christian Astrology. This is despite the fact that one sequence in Lilly’s table is contradicted by all the critical editions and all of the English translations of the Tetrabiblos. This talk examines whether there is a way to verify the correct sequence of planetary rulership based upon an understanding of the 'natural and consistent' principles that Ptolemy insisted existed within it. It additionally explores the history of the terms and how Ptolemy’s works have been transmitted to modern readers.

Blast, day 4, Horary: 'Horary and the Hunt for Missing Things' |
| Sedona, nr Phoenix, USA |
Organised by Blast Astrology Conference, Sedona, AZ, 1:15 - 2:15 pm |
|
Intro:
Mislaid things, lost objects and stolen goods fall into the same bracket as missing or abducted pets/people, presenting the greatest – but potentially most satisfying – challenge to any horary astrologer. Yet traditional texts seem to give contradictory instruction on these issues, their authors often keen to point out how little interest they had in these uncomfortable topics. Modern texts are just as confusing, befuddling the student from the start with vague definitions of what constitutes a mislaid object rather than a missing one. This talk aims to clarify the central issues, demonstrating the principles that have remained consistent from our earliest sources, and illustrating their practical application in a number of proven case histories.

Blast, special workshop: 'The Horary Consultation' |
| Sedona, nr Phoenix, USA |
Organised by Blast Astrology Conference, Sedona, AZ, 2:15 to 5:30 pm |
|
Intro:
Horary astrology is one of the most useful methods of guidance in times of crisis, and it has a rightful place in every astrologer’s practice. As a technique, it has greater scope and flexibility than most astrologers realise, but it is also very easy to master once the core principles are properly understood. This half-day workshop illustrates a systematic approach to judgement, demonstrated through a number of interesting case-histories. Ideal for all levels of students, if you are new to horary it will help you to understand the techniques and leave you eager to explore them for yourself; if you are more experienced you will also find this workshop invaluable for its emphasis on practical application and fluid interpretation within the consultation process.

Blast, special workshop: 'Profiling with Horary' |
| Sedona, nr Phoenix, USA |
Organised by Blast Astrology Conference, Sedona, AZ, 2:15 to 5:30 pm |
|
Intro:
In many horary charts, the key to the judgement lies in discovering something significant about an event that has already happened. This is especially the case with charts involving missing persons or pets, where we need to extract every vital clue from the chart that we possibly can. And because in these situations where there is a sense of mystery involved, it is so hard to confirm whether our judgement is on track by
what the querent knows of the situation, it’s also crucial to use the physical descriptions that the planets are
offering as a way to ensure that the chart is valid and working appropriately. This half-day workshop demonstrates proven techniques for drawing accurate descriptions, first for the victims, and then for the perpetrators of criminal activity.

The Medieval use of Aspects and Orbs |
| London, UK |
Organised by The Warburg Institute. To be presented at the Warburg conference: ‘From Masha’allah to Kepler: the Theory and Practice of Astrology in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance’. |
|
Intro: This presentation focuses on how, when, and why astrologers gave more definition to the matter of orbs and what constitutes 'application' in aspects. It considers the approach taken by medieval astrologers towards 'out of sign' aspects and the definition of ‘Void of Course’. By reference to medieval chart examples, it also helps demystify some confusing aspect terminology, such as what is meant by ‘rendering of light’ rather than ‘translation of light’. |
