Evening talk and 1-day workshop on horary astrology |
| Gold Coast, Australia | Organised by the Gold Coast Astrological Society (GCAS)
Evening talk on Friday, 27th Jan (starts at 7:00 pm) provides an insight into how significantly horary charts act as part of an unfolding life pattern. Example horaries are used to deomonstrate how horary themes connect to life themes that are raised to prominence at that time.
The 1-day workshop on Saturday 28th Jan demonstrates that horary has greater scope and flexibility than most astrologers realize, with the added advantage that its techniques are easy to master once a few core principles are understood. The workshop illustrates a systematic approach to horary judgment, using a variety of proven case histories as examples. Suitable for all levels of experience.
All presentations are suitable for all levels of experience.
Venue: Level 2 Conference Room in the Community Hall Lawson Street, Southport (next door to the RSL Club).

Lecture - Ancient Inquiry Charts
The roots of many of the practicalities of modern horary astrology can be traced back to pre-classical philosophies and the ancient techniques of katarche, as revealed in our oldest preserved 'inquiry charts'. This presentation looks into the human story behind some of those early charts, and the practical application of early horary technique, whilst exploring the general 'back-story' of what is known of the ancient origin, initial development and early transmission of interrogational astrology.
For Track 8: History through Time and Culture. Session 6: Saturday 26 May, 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM.
Lecture - Connections in Time: the Horary Resolution Chart
A reliable assessment of timing is considered an advanced element of horary, but this presentation shows how the symbolism of time reveals itself quite naturally. Looking at several chart examples, we will see how connections between moments of enquiry and resolution can be quite stunning. Understanding the issues involved allows us to identify the best method for recognizing moments of significance, whilst affirming the value of horary and the wider astrological principle of how celestial cycles unfold meaning over time.
For Track 11: Predictive Techniques. Session 18: Tuesday 29 May, 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM.
Workshop - The Horary Consultation
Horary astrology has a rightful place in every astrologer's practice, being one of the most incisive techniques for offering guidance through problems and crisis. It has greater scope and flexibility than most astrologers realize, with the added advantage that its techniques are easy to master once a few core principles are understood. This workshop demonstrates a systematic approach to horary judgment, illustrated by a variety of proven case histories. Suitable for all levels of experience.
Post-Conference Workshops: Wednesday, May 30, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
(includes 2-hour lunch break).
All presentations are suitable for all levels of experience.

Ploughs, Bears and Burials: the Wheel of Fortune in the Pole Stars
Star knowledge is best learned 'by heart' so this talk takes a visually rich tour through a host of information that helps astrologers understand the way constellations have been charted historically and put to use astrologically. Focussing on the polar constellation Ursa Major, it demonstrates key principles which build depth and breadth into constellation meanings and secure our knowledge of celestial movements. Concluding with a comparative chart study, it also demonstrates the value of including prominent stars in chart work and the extent to which it is useful to do this.

The Caliph's Dream
A short presentation on the astrologically elected foundation of Baghdad and the transmission of astrological treasures between Persia, Alexandria, Arabia and Europe.
Sun 22nd:Lecture: William Lilly's Horary
William Lilly's 17th-century horary on whether to purchase 'Master B's houses' is a rare example of him asking his own horary question about a personal concern. The symbolism in this chart also gives a revealing insight into what was going on in Lilly's mind at the time it was cast, which for him was a period of dramatic change of circumstance. The horary forms the focus of a biographical exploration of Lilly's life at that time. Approaching this horary through various perspectives, we see the confidence and elegance of a master-astrologer at work in judgement, but we also see the practical fears and emotional insecurities of a young man daring to step above the expectations of his social status.
