Is then end of a house its strongest area?

1
Just something I was wondering about when looking at astrological charts. Is the end of a house, and even the beginning of the next house, more strongly representative of that house than the rest of that house? In the same way that 29 degrees of a sign is considered by some astrologers to be more strongly that sign than the other 28 degrees?

yes, but probably not the way you're describing it. the cusps of the houses mark the sharpest point of focus and influence for that house and its affairs. the cusp is so powerfully resonant that we allow planets to be considered connected to a house if it's within 5? of the cusp, and you can find mention of this "5? rule" (as it's sometimes called) all the way back in Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos.
"In the first place we must consider those places prorogative in which by all means the planet must be that is to receive the lordship of the prorogation; namely, the twelfth part of the zodiac surrounding the horoscope, from 5? above the actual horizon up to the 25? that remains, which is rising in succession to the horizon; the part sextile dexter to these thirty degrees, called the House of the Good Daemon; the part in quartile, the mid-heaven; the part in trine, called the House of the God; and the part opposite, the Occident."

- Ptolemy, Tetrabiblos (Proclus paraphrase), "10. Length of Life."
Ptolemy's describing an equal house system derived off the ascending degree, but that's not what matters -- the point I'm trying to illustrate is how focal the cusps were understood to be.

if you think about diurnal motion -- the way planets move in relation to a chart from the Sun's rising to its setting -- planets actually enter that houses from the back. so when the Sun rises, it remains a 1st house planet until it rises to than 5? before the ascending degree. then it is a 12th house planet, but is weakly connected to 12th house symbolism because it has only just fallen from the 1st. as the Sun travels through the 12th house, swept forward by diurnal motion, being further impregnated with 12th house signification. it is at the height of its connection to the 12th house when it conjoins the 12th house cusp, and it takes 5? beyond this (visually within the 11th house in a chart) before he drops 12th house signification to adopt the 11th.

the cusps aren't the beginning of the houses -- they are, in a way, the final crescendo, the portal into the succeeding house (i.e., 12th cusp is final burst before a planet becomes an 11th house planet, etc.). so yes -- "the ends of houses" are more powerful, but the end is actually properly understood as the cusp of each house, not that part that is visually far from the cusp and nearer to the cusp of the next house when counting numerically.

the final degree of a sign can be somewhat connected to the idea of "crisis" because they represent impending essential change. it's hard to imagine saying these degrees are "strong", or stronger than the other 28 degrees.
