Having mentioned astrological symbolism - I would say that this was actually an additional testimony that the Ascendant was actually signifying you. Whilst the recent negative events might seem like an odd coincidence threatening to damage your astrological performance, astrology wise, the repetition of the activities of the same nature makes a lot of sense. The poor shape of the ruler of the 7th is actually descriptive of the state of your partners (former and current) in general as two of them have faced life-threatening situations lately. And all that has influenced you to a great extent. For all these reasons, it might not be safe for you to judge the charts that explain the current stressful situations. Of course, it has got nothing to do with your astrological competence, rather, it is a warning against judgement rooted in the fact that you are emotionally too involved.

Based on my experience- although the early ascendant charts can be very descriptive, there is always a good reason for an early Ascendant. Personally, i would always make sure that the Querent is completely honest and prepared for the answer. It sometimes happens that, no matter how deeply engaged in the situation the Querent is and no matter how desperately he is looking for the answer, in reality, he is not actually ready to find it. When the Querent is also the astrologer, the situation becomes even more dangerous; whilst an unprepared Querent may have hard time accepting the answer, an unprepared Astrologer can actually draw wrong conclusions and cause even more mess.
In my opinion, the early Ascendant was saying everything that you mention in your last reply- you are overly occupied by the 7th house matters as it is, to be open minded and flexible when it comes to a chart that has a purpose of finding out the answer to a question that concerns a very specific (and single) aspect of the 7th house matters in your life at the moment.(You cant see the tree for the forest, sort of speaking).
If you think that you deserve a Horary answer to this question, maybe it is time to ask another astrologer to cast the chart. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about making any mistakes.

You write sooo well Aglaya. You've put into words exactly how I feel. I certainly don't believe this chart to be a throw away, none with this sincerity could be.

I'm not sure what the root is but I am clearly warned not to judge it. Especially not at this -or that time.

My discussion here has done exactly what I needed. Confirmed that "technique" rules over "desire". I'm okay with celestial bodies having no sympathy, they may have a good reason for keeping me in the dark.

maybe it is time to ask another astrologer to cast the chart. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about making any mistakes.

Definitely a better idea! But for now I'm going to have faith that I'm not supposed to know and focus studies to my own chart and my synastry/composite relationship with him for he obviously plays an important role.

If the question persists I will definitely be seeking advice from another astrologer. Thanks for your help and everyones, much appreciated:)

i am curious to know where the event happened. you've provided kens birthdata and birth location and you've provided the location you cast the horary for, but you've not provided the location of kens death. one is unable to tell from the info you've provided.. i would be curious to know.
fwiw here is kens chart relocated to vancouver with the time of 3:40pm set to vancouver. one can draw some obvious connections from the relocated birth chart to the event chart if indeed vancouver is the place of the event.

I had already thought to combine natal with event but did not think to relocate it.

The last seen chart time is said to be 3:40 - 3:47 because this is the time he was seen in the video tape with the man who collected keys from the last visitors and then escorted him into the room meaning opened and closed the door behind him but did not go in the room with him.

The location of my horary was Vancouver is at 49.2500? N, 123.1000? W and the location of his death was Surrey BC. 49.1833? N, 122.8500? W - I mention long lat because surrey BC did not come up automatically when I tried on astro.com charts? I think that still produces a chart similar to the one you posted being only 1 degree off?

Actually Im confused about the ascendant in Cancer and how that was calculated?

Just to make sure: The natal birth time is May 29, 1967 11:00am in Hamilton, Ontario. he lived in Surrey, BC . and died in Surrey BC last seen January 3, 3:40-3:47 am.

Now that we've had his stuff returned we know that there was not a penny on him, his empty wallet placed on the night stand, his keys, hat and jacket are all missing. There were 2 cell phones found in the room. His shirt had a rip on the back but there were not signs of physical struggle on his body. He was found face directly down in the bed. The needle that penetrated him was not found? The police are looking for two people of interest but are not giving us any more info. The name of the hotel is "the Hollywood" a place close to his stomping grounds so to speak.

the ascendant to surrey changes 1/4 of a degree, or 11 minutes to be exact. i would be more concerned with the rounded off time to 11am as if that is out by 5 minutes it will change in this instance to 1 degree exactly. assuming 11am is fairly close to his time of birth, i have relocated his birth chart to vancouver by subtracting 3 hours from the birth time and moving his location to vancouver. for anyone who wants to do this for themselves - pay attention to the degree and minute of the moon as that will tell you whether you've done the procedure correctly or not. in kens birth chart the moon is at 21 aquarius 02 on my astro software - solar fire. relocated to vancouver or surrey for 8am it is also 21 aq 02.

my feeling is that your dear friend ken was directly involved in his own demise and that this wasn't a murder. i base this off the overall picture and i could be wrong, but that is what i get from this chart.

i am not doing horary work here - obvious to anyone i suppose - but working with the natal chart using a few different techniques to arrive at a tentative conclusion. i hope you are able to find some closure in the process borealis.
