Will they marry? 1 by StellarTiggy Person asked me a question about whether she and her male friend will marry, I took her as the querent, ascendant ruler. Take a look at this chart. My answer was a no because Gemini rises and Mercury applies to Jupiter by square without reception. Mars also prohibits the square from perfecting. And then something else caught my eye...Venus in the 7th (I use whole sign). He's already involved with someone or what?? Moon's last aspect is a sextile to Jupiter looks promising but not before it squares exalted Mars. There will be a fight prior to reconciliation. What's your take? 5 by Larxene Hello StellarTiggy, I do not study horary astrology, so this is based on my superficial reading of free online materials and loosely based on my experience in Hellenistic astrology. The lord of the Ascendant, Mercury, is contrary to the sect, not in a familiar zodiac sign and is cadent AND unconnected to the Ascendant. It is not in its own boundaries/terms either, both the Egyptian and Ptolemaic terms. (It is interesting that under both systems, Mercury is in Venus' terms, perhaps showing the type of question being asked here, or the native's motivation). This indicates to me that the native is not well-positioned to act on the matter. Similarly, the lord of the Setting Place, Jupiter, is contrary to sect and cadent, but in its own trigon and is connected to the Ascendant. Jupiter is better positioned to act here. Also note that it is close to the Imum Caelum (IC), which gives it additional strength to act. All this seems to indicate that the decision of whether to marry falls more on the guy. Thus, let's examine the male first. As you've noticed, Venus is in the Setting Place. Venus is the lord of the Good Fortune, a place of children and sexual pleasure. This shows the possibility of there being another woman in his life. However, in the first place I am unsure of whether the other woman will manifest or not. This depends on whether Venus is visible or making a heliacal phase. If she is visible, he has likely met this person, though because Jupiter and Venus are aspecting each other from afar, this is probably just the start of the relationship. If Venus is making a phase, then the guy has not met the woman, but will meet her soon. (Then of course we have the question of whether out-of-sign combustion is viable.) Jupiter is also applying to a combust Saturn, and Saturn is the lord of the eighth and ninth places by whole signs, and the 10th by quadrant house division. Turning the chart, these signs are the second and third from Sagittarius. We may infer that the man meets this woman (signified by Venus) through his workplace or when dealing with his finances (second house concerns livelihood) or through friends, siblings or neighbours (third house significations). Now let's look at Mercury. It would have applied to Jupiter, if not for the fact that Mars is in between them. Mars is lord of the Good Spirit, but also lord of the Bad Fortune and the Idle Place (8th sign). It is of the sect in favour, in its exaltation and is post-ascensional, but is unconnected to the Ascendant. In this situation, Mars confers a mixed effect, both good and bad to the native. I think that this Mars signifies a person who interrupts their relationship and prevents nuptial events from occuring. It may be a friend or a colleague from work, or an acquaintance from one's associations or social circles (all significations of Good Spirit). The person is probably tall (adjusted to race) and/or a bit tanned or having darker skin, and/or is involved in some Martial activity like martial arts, police, army, etc. Mercury and Mars are in sextile, so their relationship is harmonious but mild. The person likes the querent more than the querent likes him/her, due to the one-sided reception. He/she may be sexually interested in the querent, which explains why he/she would interfere with the marriage. There is a similar testimony with the Moon. It would have applied to Jupiter by sextile, if not due to the fact that Mars IS INTERFERING AGAIN! The Moon being in the Good Fortune (of children and sexual pleasure) again shows the possibility of sex with this person signified by Mars. Lastly, Jupiter being very close to the Imum Caelum (IC) perhaps testifies that the man is interested in having a family, but with the testimony of the trine from Venus and with Mars interfering with Mercury and the Moon, it is likely that the querent will not be his "the one". Verdict: No, she will likely not be married to the man. I am thinking she would get into a new relationship with the Mars signified person instead. (Alternatively, I am also seeing signs of either someone getting pregnant with the quesited's child or getting attached/married to the quesited as a result of being pregnant, but I am not sure about this...) Again, note that I do not study horary astrology, and I am from a different tradition, so my reading may very well be wrong. Regards, Larxene Xenohart Interested in Hellenistic astrology? 7 by lifestudent I have not been in here for a long time - but am looking to advancing myself in astrology in general as well as horary, which I find fascinating. But I am an amateur still There is such a thing called 8 ball technique as well which only looks at one house in question, in this case it would be the 7th - and since it is ruled by Jupiter and has Venus as a visitor it would just be a straight forward YES to the question. In this chart I see both a yes answer, but also some trouble ahead. The trouble ahead is indicated by the Moon's square to Mars within 3-4 weeks, so it should be about now. We also see that just now Jupiter has gone into retrograde motion, indicating that it is moving away from the Moon and Mercury and Venus for a while. So there will be a difference of opinion or a halt in the relationship during this time, probably until April next year some kind of uncertainty. Moon will come into a sextile with Jupiter in about 8 weeks from when the question was asked, so there will be reconciliation between them after this Mars square. But they will still move apart until April. I do not see the Venus entering Sag as another woman. I see it as a sign of the couple becoming ready to move a 5th house relationship onto the next stage - into the 7th house of commitment and marriage. But it has just entered the 7th house, so it is not completely ready yet I would think. Venus is received by both Jupiter and Mercury - and Venus is the marriage/romance planet. I also note that the Moon is in Venus' house ... indicating that there is still hesitation, but indeed love and romance between the couple. I would think that recently before this question was asked there were issues of separation or freedom issues, and maybe even loss (Moon opposite Uranus and square Pluto). They are both received by the Sun, so the Sun has great influence here. I think it might be an indication of their immediate family, parents and siblings are influencing them. But the Sun is received by Venus, so they now about the marriage plans/thoughts. The Sun is also received by Mars, so they will know about this fight coming up I guess. I thin matters will clear up better for the family members as the Sun moves into Sag to be received by both Jupiter and Mercury in first decan of Sag. The couple is also received by Mars - so this argument or trouble will influence them I think to postpone all such plans. When Mercury perfects it's square to Jupiter - in about 6 and a half months I think, then Jupiter will be in direct motion again and the couple will know more clearly their relationship. Some horary astrologers say that squares and oppositions denote a breakup, but I would not think so in this example. Venus, Sun, Mercury and the Moon will soon all be placed in the 7th house of marriage and commitment. In about 15 units of time (months) Mercury enters Sag and at that time the Sun and Venus will have moved closer to the DSC and into Moon's decan of Sag. I think that might be when the matter will be perfected. But of course I might be wrong. Would be interesting to know a bit more about this matter and get a follow up next spring/summer. not an expert in horary 8 by astrojunkie Hi Tiggy, This guy will not marry her as he is busy in his own world. Not only that the lady seem to be burdened about the responsibilities, check her health also. Pls lemme know a new born astrologer Quote Mon Dec 22, 2014 8:42 am
9 by gabkins Since the querent's primary and secondary significators both apply to Mars, I'm thinking she ends up marrying some other guy (not her friend). Gabby Quote Thu May 28, 2015 8:09 pm
10 by Lazarus Stellar Tiggy I think your original analysis is pretty spot on, however I would caution reading too deeply into Venus as, even though it is in the 7th sign it is declining from the angle and so there is the possibility instead that another woman is on his mind (perhaps a friend as she rules the turned 11th) etc. To those who think yes the reception shows otherwise. If nothing is done the two are headed for a conflict (square with no reception) and Moon applying to Mars (again NO RECEPTION and in fact Moon is in Mars' detriment and Mars in Moon's detriment and the aspect is a square). Mars most likely refers to an argument, no need to make this a soap opera, he is not another guy and even if he was, again negative reception. Horary needs to be relevant to what is going on now; some magical man won't just materialize out of no where and sweep her off of her feet. Quote Sat Dec 12, 2015 2:28 am
