Hi Dolly,

A decumbiture chart is cast for the time a person first takes to his bed, being too sick to carry on normal activity. Falling from a ladder is an accident or an event.

We encourage posters to try their own hand and posting what they think before asking for help

Secondly since this is an event and the chart is true for every person in a wide area, I wouldn't expect it to show very much. You'd need the natal chart of the victim.

Take a crack at it yourself, and let us know what you come up with. Also please read the anouncement at the top of this forum. regarding rules for posting. You are expected to lead the discussion.

Hi Tom
Thank you for answering my post. I haven't got very far with it.

The birth chart of the victim is 06 June 1950 5.10 am Oxford UK GIves an ascendent of 18+ Gemini - at the time of the accident Natal Mars was conj Transit Mars in 4th House. Accident in home. The victim went straight to hospital as she could no longer carry on with said task. Obviously broken wrist does not entail going to bed. I did not understand about event charts but I have looked it up and in the chart Mars(Asc ruler and 6th) has a +2 rating and Mercury(Ruler of 8th house and 11th housel) has +10 so Mercury is the strongest planet and the most recent aspect is Moon(in 5th in Pisces ruled by Jupiter) trine Asc 1 degree 54 - the next aspect is Moon trine Jupiter 4 degree 29 and the next is Moon opposite Sun(in Virgo in 10th house) at 5 degrees. But I have come unstuck up to this point. I am not sure what the houses mean in an event chart. Am I on the right track so far?

Thanx dolly

Hi Dolly,

Yes you are on the right track. An event chart is simply a chart taken for the time of an event, like the begining of a war, a sports event, a wedding, etc. Unless we are talking about something like a war that has international consequences, or a major life event like a wedding, the event chart probably needs some help. We should also note that war charts and wedding charts do not operate in a vacuum either.

Breaking one's wrist is of some import to the individual and perhaps to the immediate family of the individual, but it doens't make an impact on the world scene. That's why I suggested getting a birth chart.

An event chart can be read as a stand alone. The first house will describe the person who initiates the action. However, in your case everyone in that area didn't fall and break her wrist at that moment, so yor approach with the transit to the natal chart seems best, but we might need more.

Could you check the data? I get Mars in the natal 5th house using Placidus cusps. You said 4th. Then we can look at it again.

Hi Dolly,

Let's try to organize our thoughts here. We're discussing an injury to an individual - an "accident" in every sense of the word. The time of the event by itself is not going to tell us much of value if anything. You've provided the chart of the native. That is our base.

Rulerships would be Mars for accidents and injuries, and for physical well being the native's ASC and ruler. Richard Saunders gives wrists to Gemini, and Lilly gives joints to Libra. Bones belong to Saturn. Richard Saunders gives accidents involving the limbs to the 7th house.

Looking at the native's solar return for this year we have Venus, opposing the SR ASC (obviously from the 7th) and Saturn squaring it. Jupiter is on the ASC so any harm to the native will be mitgated or diminished. Now I think, but I can't recall where and don't have time to look everywhere, that the 6th house is associated with accidents and injuries and Venus rules her natal 6th and Mars' ruled Scorpio is intercepted in the natal 6th. SR Venus is conjunct her natal position in the 12th house. Granted we're doing all this after the fact, but I think there is enough here, and there may be more, to indicate a possible injury, but not too serious an injury in the coming year. I know it must have hurt like hell, and I'm saying it wasn't too serious because it didn't happen to me. But it isn't serious considering some of he terrible things that can happen. She could have broken her neck. That's serious.

What we need is a trigger and this is where the transiting planets come in. Mars, as you noted is conjunct its natal position in Mercury ruled Virgo. Saturn is almost exactly square the natal ASC (one minute orb), and, for what it is worth, Venus, ruler of the natal 7th, has just entered the sign of her fall.

Is the wrist breaking predictable? Probably not. We'd have to really work to tease that out of a chart, but I think it is possible to note that physical injury is a good possibility within the year.

Try to use the rulerships to put more of the story together. That will take some time and effort, but go slow, if it is there, you'll find it.

Hi Tom
Do I understand you correctly that this poor lady is going to have another accident this year or is the wrist saga the end of it. She told me that she had no faith in the specialist who saw her and is worried that more work possibly an operation will be forthcoming. Her wrist is still in plaster and not due to come off till next week. This is the reason I started off on a horary to see for her how long this will continue and if the specialist is up to scratch and what the outcome would be.

Oh by the way can we say from this recent event that her birth time would be correct. She has always wondered.

Thanx Dolly
