Although I have a few ideas of my own on the subject; I would like to discuss the question of what it takes to come up with good a winning in matters of speculation. Some gaming activities may depend more upon some faculty of skill or field knowledge than others but yet - Can such skill be relied upon and what does it take to come up with a really good win?

Is skill a factor when it comes down to winning in games, or does it come down to being of the winning type, good timing or just an element of luck? Is luck influenced by radix significations, transits or other astrological signatures?

In the Lotto - does the money follow the numbers or the nativities?

Do transits always deliver? Does luck last? Let's examine!

LOL, well Andrew, I was playing on the computer Sunday and noted I was winning more than average so I ran out and bought a lotto ticket, we can see if the transiting mars sextile my natal 5th house jupiter on Sunday translates to any kind of monetary returns! once in a while I get a little bit back from my math tax.

One of the most money-fortunate charts I came across was where the ruler of the 2nd house was in the 5th house in mutual reception by exaltation with its dispositor located in the 2nd house. The guy made a fortune on a weekly basis, yes.

Transits don't always pay-up - however, what is the key issue? What is it that makes the difference?

responses to a couple of things,

my humorous decision to buy a lotto ticket (dont worry it was only a couple dollars) based on TMars, second house ruler, sextile natal jupiter at home in Pisces in 5th and also TMoon was conj NJupiter, so just thought, that if the time you buy the ticket is important then that was a good time, as I was winning at card games against the computer just then, seemed appropriate. if nothing comes to fruition, then Oh Well, it was a few dollars and it is amusing, and a test of whther or not the time you purchase is important or the timing of the drawing? would love to compare several years worth of winners data!

also you said "is our success at the mercy of the contents of our personal natal charts, or do we demonstrate a true mastership of our understanding of the rationale of a supreme pattern?"

people often say "as above so below" but that is only half the quote, the other half is as bellow so above. to me your thought is cyclical, to say it either way is correct. well to my way of thinking anyway. Smile

why is it some transits pay off better than others? dare I say it? preparation? it is all well and good to have a chart that screams benefit, how can you get the best benefit if you dont do your part to help along?

I may be wrong, but I still think that the universe expects you to put in your share... you have heard the old joke about the guy who keeps praying to win the lottery and his life keeps getting worse and worse and finally the skies open up and deities voice is heard from above saying "look, give me a hand here, buy a damn ticket!"

Whether it is the time you buy the ticket that counts or the moment of the draw? Well, that's an interesting question. It could be a good idea to consider in which way the purchase of a ticket compares to an election, or whether it is more like the moment of conception with the draw being similar to birth?

In matters of competition and speculation my experience is that the moment is enchanced when the Lord of the hour is dignified in the Ascendant by exaltation.

In theory there should be a dynamical relationship present between the two moments in question. And is it possible to conjure about anything without the agency of the birth chart?

Well, apparently the timing wasn't good enough as I didn't so much as break even. sigh. I'll have to keep an eye on the draw times as those are always the same and see if a good draw time is coming up. =)

My natal Jupiter is in his own house in the 5th, so not entirely out of reason to expect a good win or two (also aligned with Fomalhaut)

Granny

edit - that should read Jupiter is in his own SIGN, Pisces... sorry about that! G

So there must be dignity in the chart but still lightening must strike! Let's work on it! 'Sounds like everything at work must be triggered by a little Uranus or Pluto....

Hi all!

July 29, 2006 I won 20.000 Swedish crowns at the horse races.

I have studied my transits, my progressions, my solar return, my lunar return and the event-chart for the bet without finding anything significant.

Maybe as Deb wrote it is hard to read ones one chart? Or maybe I am just a bad student! Smile

If anyone would like to have a go at it and try to find “the winning transit” the data is as follows:

Birth data: January 30, 1957 in Stockholm, Sweden at 0710 am

The bet was placed July 29, 2006 in Norrtälje, Sweden at 1137 am.

The races started July 29, 2006 at 1410 pm in Bollnäs, Sweden.

I used Regio for the event-chart and Placidus for the others.

Best to you all!

P.S. I had a lot of fun with the money by the way! Very Happy

Next time let us know when there's a party!

Your Solar return for that year shows Mercury guarded (Al Biruni) by the Sun and Moon in the intercepted Aquarius (fatal surprise?) in the 2nd house (money). Spica is on the Solar return Libra MC, with Venus in Capricorn on the cusp of the 2nd. This is interesting because Venus is in mutual reception with Mars in the 5th by exaltation, Mars in her sign, she being in his exaltation. Using the Year Point system I've been researching into since the mid 80's ( http://www.astronor.com/apfp.htm ) the YP would be 12 degrees Gemini and exact trine its dispositor, Mercury, who is located in the 2nd as previously described.

I will take your Solar return along as an example chart at a lecture I am holding in Oslo next week, if you have no objections.

I am only to happy if I can in some small way contribute to your research!

In that respect I might mention that I won about the same amount of money on December 2, 2000 and then again on January 6, 2001.

However, at that time I was sick, depressed (the love of my life had left me; the little fat, redhaired artillery-officer that I have written about earlier!) and I was severely in debt. Although very releived by the income, I hade really no fun with it! Just watched it passing by! Tongue Out

All the best! I will read your "link" with great interest!

First Entry by Election
I'm not going to put a lot of prestige into this but for the sake of the experiment I have entered a random lotto coupon for 5 weeks.
http://www.astronor.com/ENTRY1.GIF
My election, selection of coupon and moment of registration was 15.50 GMT, January 27. 2007, Asker, Norway, 59N50, 10E26. The weekly stake is NOK 40, or slightly short of GP £ 4

My radix Sun is 13LE21, Moon 27AQ56, Asc 11SC29 and cusp of 2nd is 5SG45 by Regiomontanus.

The election chart has Asc 13LE20 with Jupiter 13SG16 & Pluto 27SG55 in the 5th. The cusp of the 5th is 5SG57 by Regiomontanus. MC is 15AR43.
The Moon is 29TA14 in the sign of its exaltation, intercepted in the 10th and applies to her dispositor Venus at 29AQ24 by square through signs of short ascension. Jupiter has dignities in the Asc by triplicity and face. Venus is in reception with the Moon by location in face.

Second Entry by Election
Well, the coupon didn't go in - so I re-entered it today March 1. 2007 at 12.33 GMT. Asc 2LE53 MC 27PI24. http://www.astronor.com/ENTRY2.GIF

The hour and day of Jupiter. Moon is 13LE05 and makes trine to JU 17SG53, who is lord of hour and MC, and intercepted in the 5th house. Moon comes from the trine of Venus at 10AR03 who is lady of the 11th and intercepted in the 10th. The exaltation degree of Venus is on the MC. Mars, who is lord of the 5th, is exactly on the Descendant.

There is an applying trine between Jupiter in the 5th and Saturn who is located on the cusp of the 2nd house, and Saturn receives Jupiter in his terms. The Moon will also translate the trine from Jupiter to Saturn.

This Moon in this re-entry chart is at 13LE03 and conj my radix Sun at 13LE21 and trine Jupiter in the chart of first entry at 13SG16. Mercury is retrograde at 27AQ54 and picks up on natal Moon. Pluto was 27SG55 in the chart of first entry. The solar eclipse in March will occur in the Midheaven in the chart of the re-entry.

So let's play again!

Living in Las Vegas, I gamble almost every day.
For some reason I have found that I tend to have good luck just before a major Phase of the Moon.
I also do well when the Transiting Sun is Square, Inconjunct, or Semisextile my natal Sun.
I can't offer an explanation for this, it's just what I've noticed.
I've got a feeling it's probably different for different people and has a lot to do with how the Natal Chart is reacting to the Transits.
I suggest keeping a long term record of your winning days and study the Transiting aspects on those days to your own Natal Chart.

BIG WIN!!
Well, on March 1st I entered one five week lotto coupon (10 lines) for the 2nd time as described above (See chart at http://www.astronor.com/ENTRY2.GIF ) but I also threw in an additional coupon with 6 lines for just this coming Saturday's draw on March 3rd. Both coupons were entered at the same time. The five week coupon was a prefilled coupon, the other one I filled out by random.

BOTH coupons won! The coupon I filled out myself contained a line with 6 of the 7 winning numbers, won the 3rd prize and brought home NOK kr. 7225,- (GP £650). (Odds equal 1:28463) The prefilled coupon had a line with 5 of the winning 7 numbers, won the 4th prize and NOK kr.210,- (GP£ 19). (Odds are 1:730) The Norweigan lotto has 5 different prize levels. The 1. prize in this weeks draw was NOK kr. 4.185.820,- (GP£ 380.000,-)

When I think about it, I actually bought another lottery ticket at the same time as delivering the lotto coupons. Also this ticket gave a minor prize. So in conclusion, everything I touched at this moment gave a return of money.

New Experiments
Here is this week's election for entering the lotto:
March 8. 2007, time 19.53 LT (18.53 GMT), Asker 59N50, 10E26 (just south of Oslo). http://www.astronor.com/ENTRY3.GIF

The election is set for the day of Jupiter and the hour of the Sun. Venus is lady of the Libra ascendant by sign and term, and is in trine with Jupiter, who is lord of the day. Venus in an angular house and in the exact exaltation of the Sun at 18AR56, who is lord of the hour, and the two planets share mutual reception by exaltation.

Venus is in a Grand Trine with the superiors, Jupiter and Saturn, and translates and pushes ahead the applying trine between Jupiter and Saturn. Saturn is lord of the 5th of speculation and has dignities on the ascendant by exaltation. He is elevated in the chart, and located on the cusp of the fortunate 11th house. The Moon is lady of the 10th house and in Scorpio in the 2nd house of monies. She casts her antiscia to the cusp of the 5th, that is in her face, and contra-antiscia to Saturn on the cusp of the 11th, and who is ruler of the 5th. Both Moon and Saturn are in the terms of Jupiter.

Stationary Mercury is in the 5th house. Spica is on the cusp of the 2nd house and Fortuna is conjunct with Chiron.

As for joining this chart to my own radix, I have made the ascendant 6LI06, conjunct with my radix Mars located at 6LI20, and who is the traditional ruler of my Scorpio ascendant. The Moon in the chart of the election at 10SC10 applies to my radix ascendant at 11SC29. The grand trine between Jupiter, Saturn and Venus is joined to my nativity with Venus conjunct my radix Jupiter at 19AR28, the latter being lord of 2nd and 5th houses of the nativity.
