How to insert a chart into a forum post 1 by Goca Note by Deb (16 Dec 2015) I am replicating at the top of this thread the latest post which gives clear instructions on how to insert an image into a forum post, using Flatangle software, which is free to use and generates very clear, attractive chart-wheels. (Links to the free chart calculation services offered by Astrodienst and Flatangle are included at the bottom of the page) _________________ From Joo Ventura: For users who do not follow the News section of skyscript, I made a web app to create astrology charts. You can follow the Charts thread at http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic ... 73&start=0. My suggestions are: 1) Use Charts (available at http://apps.flatangle.com/Charts/) to generate a PNG image. I prefer Transparent background images. 2) Generate a 500x500 pixel image or resize a larger image to a width/height of 600px, to fit skyscript dimensions nicely. 3) Upload the image to a image host provider. I strongly recomend http://postimage.org/. 4) Copy the url given by postimage.org at Direct Link. 5) Paste the url to a skyscript message using the img tag, like [ img ] paste the url here [ / img ] (remove empty spaces in the tags). Preview and you should get something like this: Joo Ventura http://www.flatangle.com/ ----------------------------------- Older post from Deb - two members have contributed instructions on how to insert chart images into posts, so I've included them both in this thread - thanks for adding this info! From Tanit33: ---------------- HOW TO POST A CHART: 1. Go to www.astro.com/ to create a free astrology chart 2. Save the chart to your desktop as an image file 3. Upload the image file using TinyPic's website defaults: www.tinypic.com a.) Click the "Browse" button to locate the image file on your desktop b.) Don't change any of the settings, just click "Upload Now" 4. From there you can do one of two things: a.) Post the chart directly into the forum: copy/paste the link from "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" b.) Post a link to the chart in the forum: copy/paste the link from "Direct Link for Layouts" From Goca: ------------ Hi all, Seems that some of the members are having problem inserting chart here so I decide to give guide how you can insert chart in your post. First, save your charts within 600 pixels in width so it can fit Forum width without scrolling. There are several ways to insert chart but try this one. Go to www.imageshack.us (or any other free imagehost you like) and follow the steps as below. First, look at the row where the Browse button is. You can find an option of "Photos/Videos" and "Url" and "webcam" If you have chart on your computer, select ""Photos/Videos"" and click "browse" to select it. Than click "Upload Now". Click and see picture below. Once the file is uploaded, a new page will load as below. Click on image. Then look at "Links to send your image to others:" choose "Forum Thumbnail" and copy that code text in window besides and then paste it in your post! And beleive me, this is sure way that you will get faster response to your post! Last edited by Goca on Mon Feb 01, 2010 11:15 am, edited 6 times in total. Chart Styles 2 by Olivia I wanted to post a quick addition to this tutorial, as many people here use astro.com, and astro.com has recently added a lot of different chart formats. On the Chart Selection Page, under 'Chart Drawing Style', please select either: Web default style (this is the default, it should already be in the box), or if you prefer an entirely white background instead of yellow, then Liz Greene style. The reason for this is that those chart styles show the degrees for planets in the chart itself, making charts much easier to read. A lot of the newer styles, for some inexplicable reason, omit the planetary degrees entirely in the chart and put them off in a table either under or next to the chart, and those can be difficult to read, especially for people with bad eyesight or small monitors! If you use your own software, or another web software, again, please use a format that shows the degrees of the planets in the chart wheel itself. I wouldn't bring it up, but we're seeing a lot of chart with no degrees lately. Thanks - Liv Quote Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:59 pm
by stanstar Is there not a way to post a chart to forum using solarfire? That would be a lot easier. Stan Quote Fri Jul 08, 2011 7:35 pm
by Goca Yes, you can post it. First save the chart from solorfire to your disk, then upload it to some free imagehost and then post link of your chart on forum. Greetings, Goca http://www.astrosport07.webs.com http://fensi88.livejournal.com/ Quote Fri Jul 08, 2011 7:41 pm
by epurdue All of the cool kids nowadays use http://imgur.com/ to upload images. It's pretty easy. Quote Sat Jul 09, 2011 2:07 pm
by Tomazo I would like an official, built-in table bbcode. I wouldn't want it to be too advanced nor have too many options. The output should have some attached Javascript to make columns sortable. 7 by stanstar Hi Goca, I don't seem to be able to save a chart to disc with Solarfire. You mean hard disc? When you save a chart in Solarfire it saves only the data and not the chart graphic. Stan Quote Mon Jun 25, 2012 4:15 pm
by Goca Yes, I mean hard disk. I do not use Solarfire so I can not help you. If you have some program for editing pictures like Photoshop you can use "Print screen" button and then in Photoshop crop only chart. But sure some member of this forum use Solarfire so I expect he/she will explain you how to save chart from Solarfire.
