4 by Ema Very interesting. Never heard of him! Having googled him I couldn't discover if he's got any of his books translated into English, or perhaps German? Do you know anything about that? Thanks! 5 by Stone I think his books can be found in Russian. I personally don't have any of his books. Quote Sat Aug 23, 2008 10:12 pm
Jan Kefer 6 by PaulParal Jan Kefer was a Czech astrologer. He was born on January 31, 1906 in Novy Bydzov, Czech Republic (in 1906 it was still Austria-Hungarian Empire). In 1930?s Czechoslovakia he was one of the most prominent Czech astrologers, but he was also at the forefront of Czech Hermetic movement and one of the prominent members of "Universalie", Czech Hermetic Society. He wrote, to my knowledge, 2 books on astrology and four other ones on various subjects of magic and Hermeticism, their original names in Czech are: * Syntetick? magie - 1935 * Theurgie - 1935 * Theurgie magick? evokace - 1937 * Praktick? astrologie aneb um?n? p?edv?d?n? a boje proti osudu - 1939 * Encyklopedie zapomenut?ho v?d?n? - 1940 * Astrologick? diagnostika - 1940 Some of these books were published only partially, as they were published in booklets and collected over a period of time. His "Praktick? astrologie" from 1939 is still considered by some Czech astrologers as the bible of the Czech modern astrology, although the content of the book is quite "traditional?. The book was re-published in 1993, as well as his ?Theurgie?, ?Theurgie magick? evokace? and ?Syntetick? Magie?. The publisher was the Czech publishing house TRIGON. He was also an avid translator of magic and occult books. However, he spent most of his time as a lecturer of astrology, Hermeticism and magic. To my knowledge none of his books were ever translated to English, but do not take my word for it. He died in Flossenb?rg concentration camp on December 3, 1941. 7 by Ema Hi Paul thank you very much for this detailled answer. But that's horrible, died in a concentration camp at only 35?! How sad... And such a prolific writer, no wonder with Mercury in exact trine Jupiter and Mars just between! (I quickly draw his chart.) Let's hope someone from Czechoslovakia will translate some of his writings! At least his "system of signities" or "affetic index" which was the cause fort his thread. Thanks Paul again.
