Iceland work hard for solution with Norwegain money

Quote:
Aftenposten: The Icelandic finance minister Steingrímur J. Sigfússon is now proposing the idea of Norway buying Icesave-debt, which is at about 30 billion Norwegian kroner, from Iceland and allows them to meet their financial obligations to the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, the Icelandic newspaper Morgunbladid reported today.

Iceland will then be related to Norway instead and hope for better interest rates. The Dutch and the British have agreed to an interest rate of 5.7 per cent, while Iceland is hoping to get an interest rate of between 2 and 3.7 percent for such refinancing.

Norway's finance minister Sigbjørn Johnsen is not dismissive of the proposal.

We are closing in on a solution as was proposed in the 2nd post of this thread. "Is a new Union between Norway and Iceland possible?" One of my early rabblings in the formulation of this question was "Will Norway buy Iceland?"

The government of Iceland are hoping to reach an agreement to avoid the need for a referendum on March 6. While talks are moving in the right direction I am not sure that terms will be met in time. the problem seems to be set in the present with the solution a little further out. We will see how affairs manage.

Icesave-negotiations fall short

There has been optimism in Iceland and in the press the last few weeks as talks with England and the Netherlands gave hope of an agreement on the Icelandic debt. Now negotiations have capsized and Iceland move towards a national referendum on 6. March.

National referendum.: 'NO' to Icesave-agreement

The people of Iceland turned down the suggested Icesave-agreement in the national referendum held Saturday, with the No-side gathering 93% of the votes. Iceland's Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurdardóttir did in advance call the vote as pointless and announces that the government will stay in office inspite of their defeat in the referendum.

- This has no influence on the Government's business and we have to continue and complete the Icesave-debate, the Prime Minister said.

The Volcano at Eyjafjallajoekull is to have erupted at about 11.30 pm, Saturday 20 March 2010, 63N35 19W23.

Asc 5SC15 MC 29LE13 Sun 0AR15 Moon 29TA28

The luminaries are on the the cusps of signs. The Moon is square the Midheaven. The Sun opposes Saturn, Lord of the 4th. It will be interesting to see how this develops as the Sun perfects the T-square with Saturn and Pluto.

The volcano last erupted in 1823. Checking with the Vernal equinox of that year there is an interesting conjunction between Sun, Pluto and Mars - all in the first degree of Aries. (!) There is some powerful activity in the first degree of Aries through 2010!

14 April 2010: 800 people are evacuated as the volcano erupts once again. Ice melting is causing floods in the area. Obviously the volcano was also sensitive to the keydate of 13 April as has been discussed and pointed out as sensitive under several of the earthquake threads. The new eruption comes only one day after the Icelandic Minister of Finance, Steingrímur J. Sigfússon, accused her precessors of robbery. Aftenposten.

15 April 2010

Flights across Northern Europe are cancelled as a result of the cloud of Volcanic ash emitted from Eyjafjallajoekull.

So this has now become an international news/weather story!

From the initial post of 8. Oct 2008:
Quote:
- As Pluto passes the 4th cusp this Island is again due to be vulnerable to a national crises and there is likely to be an example of heightened volcanic activity.

From thread on Chile Earthquake, posted 27 Feb 2010:
Quote:
Skyscript: I would like to point out that the Haiti earthquake and the Chile quake do in fact occur on the same meridian 72W27 (Haiti) and 72W43 (Chile). A another giga-sized earthquake does not neccesarily have to occur on the next 45 day key-date but if that were the case then 13 April is the date. The first thing to do is to see whether a new major afterquake occurs after the Moon has moved 90 degrees forwards in the sky, which brings us to 5 March.

I do also have on hand an email sent to the television crew at Visir on Iceland on 22 March, which evaluates the chart of the initial eruption in the following manner:
Quote:
"Tensions for 20 March suggests that pressure is on the build and there is more to come."
