Will Hamilton be winner this year F1?

My question was: Will Hamilton be winner F1 2008?

I will try method "Lord of the hour" (for horse race) on JF suggestion in his book "Sports astrology".
Lord of hour is Sun in 10th house, dignified, so winner will be among favourite, Hamilton or Massa. But because Lord of hour is in 10th house that means Hamilton will be 2nd.
For those who want to analyse this chart as horary it is important to know (to pick up right ruler) that I am not Hamilton's fan.
Ready to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for posting the chart. This method is found in Bonatti?s Liber Astronomiae ?Questions: On the Twelfth House? (Dykes p.618) and earlier in Sahl's On Questions ?The 12th Sign?. It was originated for races involving animals like horses, and the hour-ruler, along with the 12th-ruler, is given signification of the animal about which one has a personal inclination. Sahl writes:
?look at the lord of the hour in which you were asked: which if it were in the ascendant, the beast about which he has a hunch will beat all the [other] beasts. And if it were in the Midheaven, it will come in second.
(Dykes, p.164).
Since you made it clear that you didn?t favour Hamilton (I cheer his name); and since you obviously didn?t feel that he would win over Massa (I spit in the dust), I?m assuming that your own hunch was actually for Massa? In which case this technique actually did work for you, because Massa did come in 2nd.

This is just a light suggestion of course; I don?t know if the technique is really reliable. It obviously wouldn?t make sense to retain use of the 12th-ruler to co-signify the entrant where we are dealing with cars rather than living beasts. Any ideas on what you would suggest as the alternative to that?

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago, Deb, trying to understand why large beasts should be associated with the 12th.

I felt that the quotation from Ezra in your book - "those that serve as a mount for men" - offered a link to other aspects of the house; when you mount them, you might hold the reins, but you are in fact in their power. If that is the underlying reason for assigning them to that house, then I would think that any kind of automotive vehicle might belong there.

Respectfully, I don't agree, because that's the opposite of how I see it. When we mount them, domesticate them, and strap them up with reins to control their movement, then we take away their liberty and assume power and control over them. We are not giving our power to them - we are oppressing and conquering them. (Of course we need to think in ancient terms here - we don't want horse lovers writing in about how the relationship between horse and rider is built on trust; that's not what we're talking about here!). But this is only one suggestion of why larger animals are associated with the 12th. It is a house of weakness, oppression and fear, and of course it is our instinct to fear large animals - hence the ancient need to strap them up and master them. The 12th house also signifies sea-monsters (ie., whales), which have no traditional association with being ridden.

So I don't think inanimate objects such as cars, which increase our capacity for movement, and are not generally feared, fit with the 12th house theme. The third house makes a lot more sense here, wouldn't you say?

Hi Goca
I would simply see in the chart which planet is more close to an angle. In this case would be sun and mercury. Sun is "insulated from the MC because of sign changing, so I would choose mercury.

The sun can represent a "solar" person or the last champion. But what mercury represent ? It?s easier to use this in horaries of real different things, like Oscars or Grammy.

I would try a person which has a mercurian name, colors, appearence, in that order.

But this method is more for "who would be the champion?" and we have many possibilities, so we can?t use house rulers. After I posted I saw that altough you are using the method of Bonatti, you were really asking "will X win?"

So if you were cheering for Hamilton, then would be more logical to use first house ruler for him.

He wasn't cheering for Hamilton. That was my point - that the person he was actually cheering for did come 2nd.
Deb, thanks for you kind explanation of this method.
You are too gracious. It wasn't that kind really, not with all that spitting ...
