Of course its well known the historians made up the 'classical world'.

Indeed world history is apparently only 1000 years old! Its all a renaissance conspiracy....

LOL Mark. Fomenko is interesting, even though his conclusion is totally flawed; his statistical historical analysis is interesting evidence that history is cyclical.

I gather that the idea that the Greeks invented all learning on which western civilization is based is called "hellenophilia".

We now know, of course, that the Babylonians invented everything useful like maths and astrology Thumbs up

Well, a few months ago a blogger was claiming that the greeks invented everything from logarithms to quadratic functions.

Of course, a brief reading of any mathematical book would show that this is impossible, but is hard to argue with those who read "Hystory of the world for astrologers"

I've heard the version of this that goes "all math and science is encoded in the Vedas", but never the Greek one before. What is interesting is that many of these ancient civs did have more sophisticated math and science than they are usually given credit for, but it is unbecoming to go crazy about it.
