Medieval sources on the colours of the signs 1 by Martin Gansten I wonder if anyone is aware of passages in medieval Arabic sources (or even in earlier, Hellenistic sources) on colours associated with the signs of the zodiac? I know there are such lists for the places/houses, but I am particularly looking for lists relating to the signs. Any leads would be much appreciated. https://astrology.martingansten.com/ Quote Sat Jun 29, 2013 11:17 am
2 by Deb The table at the end of David McCann's article lists the colour associations of signs according to Picatrix, Albiruni Ezra and others. No refs unfortunately, but might be worth a quick check to see what was being reported http://www.skyscript.co.uk/colour.html Quote Sat Jun 29, 2013 12:16 pm

4 by epurdue My books are going to be in storage for a few more days so I can't check, but I know al-Qabisi in "Ad Magisterium Iudiciorum", translated as "Introductions to Traditional Astrology" by Ben Dykes, has a section on the colors of the houses. It's on page 80. I sourced that for a translation I'm working on. Maybe there's a section there on the signs? Quote Sat Jun 29, 2013 2:58 pm

I did see McCann's article, but would need the references... I confess it surprised me a bit. pankajdubey wrote:Al-Biruni's Book of Instructions- on Google books. use search criteria- colours p221 ..but he seems to be quoting the Hindu opinion-?? sidereal signs Yes. The thing is, I'm looking for Arabic sources of Tajika lists of colour correspondences. It would be ironic if they turned out to be of Indian origin, via an Arabic author, but perhaps it's not the most likely scenario. https://astrology.martingansten.com/ Quote Sat Jun 29, 2013 3:17 pm
