BBC on astrology and the CSICOP cover up 1 by dragonqueen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64cQAnJt0RE interesting as of min 18, and at 25 you can see astrologers perform better than chance.Theres more later on Gauguelin. It isnt mentioned here but the American data for Mars included many Basketballers, who at the time were chosen for their size rather than athletic prowess. When you dismiss Basketballers the effect remains. Last they show a research on extroversion.Interesting that skeptic Rudolf Smit, who calls himself na extreme introvert, has Saturn at the MC point and heres more on cSICOP cover up. CSICOP made a deadly mistake by overlooking Jeromes comment http://www.astrologer.com/tests/csicop.htm#mg Quote Thu Oct 10, 2013 1:20 pm
2 by Mark While your enthusiasm to discuss issues is is very welcome here I would recommend you resist the temptation to keep opening new threads every day or so here. The philosophy forum is about the quality of discussion not quantity. Posting new topics every day or so here is not really in the slower, reflective spirit of this particular forum. Opening less threads on the philosophy forum should assist you getting you a better response to your threads in the future. 3 by dragonqueen Sorry about that Mark Ive been very busy doing research http://www.astro.com/cgi/sub.cgi?sumode ... +astro.com I checked the 49 boxing champions at ADB but wasnt too impressed. And many arent AA. Most of the Rugby players here are have birthtimes rated AA ,basically because most are French, and the French register birthtimes. The results are a lot more promising. Nearly ive seen so far have Mars angular. Since there are a lot more Rugby players than boxers at Adb I send you the data.Maybe you guys wish to check with your softwares. I personally suggest using data from countries where birthtimes are registered, like France or Scotland Quote Fri Oct 11, 2013 9:18 pm
4 by Deb I intended to check the few minutes recommended, but ended up watching the whole video. It was great to see the footage of Charles Harvey in his heyday, a young Liz Greene and Roger Elliot. The coverage of the Gauquelin effect is very good - probably the best explanation I've seen that puts the information into layman's terms. Thanks for posting, and I'm adding my own recommendation for a video from a time when the BBC wasn't so driven by agendas. Quote Mon Oct 14, 2013 9:31 am
5 by Nixx Thanks for finding the Horizon programme dragonqueen. Quite balanced, arguably even pro astrology. A very useful and acccesible, albeit layman like, synopsis of the state of play, evidential wise, circa 1980. Quote Tue Oct 15, 2013 12:05 pm

Great find dragonqueen, I intended to only watch up to the 18 mins mark to see the part you were referring to but ended up watching the entire thing. If nothing else it's nice to see astrology being covered where both skeptics and astrologers are given air-time and where astrology is being represented by astrologers themselves rather than those who have an agenda to rubbish or discredit it. Wouldn't it be nice if the BBC did something like this again? Quote Tue Oct 15, 2013 12:10 pm
