it isn't a stupid question, but an interesting one, lol.

it sounds as though you are calculating without the use of a software program, but regardless what you are asking is along the lines of relocation astrology which subscribes to the idea that the place is of importance and needs to be considered in relation to everything. if a person moves to a different location the theory on this is that the chart changes to reflect to new place where one resides. maybe i am complicating things for you here.

essentially the degree of the planets will be much the same anywhere on the planet for any particular day. what changes is the angles - ascendant and midheaven axis. if you are interested in knowing just what is rising, or culminating - for that the specific location will help clarify how it connects with everything else. sorry, that is as least wordy as i can get here.

another option if you are first learning about transits would be to have an ephemeris and just eyeball where the planets are and that ought to give you plenty enough data to go on! you can learn about relocation astrology later!
