Stationary planets in David Starkey's birth chart.

I was puzzling over the planets at the date of birth of the historian David Starkey, 3rd January 1945. No time of birth is known.

His mind is so amazing, I was curious what his Mercury was doing. I am sure intelligence has to do with a lot more than just Mercury, and this man is an intellectual warrior as well, and his Mars is very strong, aspecting Jupiter, Uranus and Chiron. But I still puzzled over his Mercury. It is 22.5 degrees Sagittarius, and Mercury was stationary on 2nd January 1945, to go direct from retrograde. His Saturn is 7 degrees Cancer, giving an antiscion of 23 degrees Gemini, which opposes his Mercury. His Phaethon is 15 degrees Virgo 40 minutes, making a lesser aspect to his Mercury, and close to its station on 12th January at 15 degrees Virgo 53 minutes. His Neptune is also close to its station at 6 degrees Libra 26 minutes, antiscion 23 degrees Pisces 34 minutes.

For anyone who has read Eric Morse's book about Phaethon, it is a planet you would associate with a historian or researcher.

His birth time is not known, so things like his Moon and angles could show a lot more information, about where his planetary energies are focussed. A stationary Phaethon conjunct the Midheaven would be a suitable signature for a brilliant historian.

I was curious about the chart of Jacob Rees Mogg,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_Rees-Mogg
who has a similar powerful intellect to David Starkey. Obviously as a Gemini he would be good at communication, they usually are, but when I listened to him use a beautiful conceit on some mockney speaking interviewer, I felt envious of what could be partly the effect of an expensive education compared to the intellectually damaging neglect that was my own experience of socialist inspired state education. I don't agree with all the man's politics, though some I do, but can't help but admire him.

He has Mercury close to stationary, Mercury stationed on the 18th May at 12 degrees Gemini, and is retrograde in his chart, opposition Mars. His Mars is quite powerful, like David Starkey's, and made me wonder if the word aristocracy derives from Ares, the old name for Mars?

(David Starkey is not an aristocrat, he just comes across like one. As he eloquently fumed at Harriet Harman, his mother scrubbed floors).

I am sure Mars, as well as stationary Mercury, is what gives both the charts of David Starkey and Jacob Rees Mogg the intellectual fire both these men have. Both of them have such powerful intellects, completely in charge of the argument, like having a tiger in their intellectual tanks.

This is a noon chart, I don't know Jacob Rees Mogg's time of birth.

fleur - you need to find some software program where you can control the settings and get an s beside the planet when it is indeed stationary.. in my solar fire software, i can control the window of time on it as well.. i have it set for 6 days.. any planet about ready to change direction - either forward or backward - i put it as stationary.. that is a wider window that others use, but it is what i use.. does this astro dienst at astro.com let you do that? it isn't showing up on these charts if so!

also - check out the previous threads here on skyscript.. do a search for stationary planets.. it has been discussed here before and you might benefit from the previous discussions on the topic..

I did look on Astrodienst, and I can't find a setting that shows an s by a stationary planet. It might be there, and I just haven't found it yet. There is a lot there that I haven't yet learnt to use.

I get the idea that stationary planets just make that planet a lot more powerful. President Kennedy also had a stationary Mercury, and Uranus.

hi fleur - hopefully you can find that to alter your settings on these charts..

personally i find stationary planets very powerful, but it is a subjective viewpoint that i don't see many astrologers talk about.
