I noticed these were interesting times for Canada when its scientists, of all people, began demonstrating in the streets; on July 10, 2012, september 16, 2013, and May 18, 2015.
Their main complaints are cutbacks in vital programs and the muzzling of government scientists, who are no longer allowed to speak out to the press or public.The protest in 2012 was a mock funeral march to protest "The Death of Evidence".
Another wake-up call was the passage of two bills, C-23, restricting the powers of Elections Canada and the notorious Bill C-51 which increases the power of CSIS, our intelligence agency, to permit sharing of information from other agencies, and to permit more arrests without a warrant. And to override The Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Then, with all this in place, an election was called in August and scheduled for the nineteenth of this month.

(please excuse the break This is a continuation, not a reply.) within orb of a New Moon, with the Sun conjunct Uranus in Cancer and the Moon in Late Gemini.Some of its notable features are two oppositions, one between Saturn and Pluto in Scorpio and Taurus, and the other between Mars and Jupiter in Virgo and Pisces, with Mars quintile Saturn and 110 degrees (a wide tridecile) to Pluto.
The Saturn - Pluto opposition seems to be expressed by at all costs avoiding being definite: by giving vague and indecisive answers to Pluto's demands and putting off decisions as long as possible. A good tactic when dealing with powerful participants like the U.S. and Britain, or people with high expectations such as francophones in Quebec and the rest of the general public. It gives time to change the way people feel about things' or for them to forget they asked.
Because this is what the country is experiencing now, my analysis here is based on the progressions of the Sun through the signs and particularly on

the changes in direction taking occurring at a New Moon.
The Sun progressed into Sagittarius on about January 15, 2012, followed by the New Moon at 3 degrees on July 3,2015, close to the last protest march on May 18.. It will remain in that sign until February, 2041.
The "Death of Evidence" protest, which began at noon, contains a formation which I call the quintile equivalent of a yod: not fate but creativity and possible coercion. It consists of Mercury, at 11 LE 46 quintile Vesta (the sacred flame, such as information) at 0 GE 13, with Pluto at the far midpoint biquintile both, at 7CP 59, opposing natal Uranus conjunct the Sun.The conjunction could represent extreme individualism, and/or the working together of the government and corporations or cooperatives. The Moon was transiting natal Neptune.
In the natal chart, Sagittarius contains parts of the eighth and ninth houses, i,e,the eighth, the shared economy, national wealth, and the ninth foreign relations and higher education.. The information economy,perhaps?

For an idea of the future, we can look at what happened in the U.S, when its Sun passed through this sign.in 1916 to -46, in her case through parts of houses six and seven. It began with Woodrow Wilson's second victory st the polls, with the slogan "he kept us out of war." And went on to include, amongst some good times, two world wars and the Great Depression. The New Moon, in 1936, took place during the landslide victory that gave Roosevelt his send term.
In his first, he brought in most of the New Deal, which benefitted the working people, reformed Capitalism and avoided a revolution. From 1933 to 1937, there was a rapid improvement in the economy. But after 1937, his opponents rallied. His attempt to pack the Supreme Court shocked many even in his own party and failed; his progress was largely halted and the economy went back into recession, not to recover until the war.
Victory came, but accompanied by the horrible shock of the atom bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.People were starving in Europe, but the troops came home. "We won. It's over." The transition to Capricorn was over in 1946, with Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech and the beginning of the Cold War.
The waning and retreat of the spirit of camaraderie which had enabled the sacrifices ws palpable.
The two countries' experiences are comparable because each describes a natal Sun in Cancer progressing through Sagittarius: fighting for mom and apple pie .A family adventure, a family under fire. Both countries are alike also in their deficiency in fire . They are not used to it. Canada's only planets in fire signs are Mercury in Leo and Neptune in Aries.. The only body in fire in the U.S. chart is the asteroid Chiron in Ares, configured by Roosevelt, the wounded healer, who had lost the use of his legs. The fourth of July is celebrated with fireworks.

this is a postscript, not a reply) Marc Penfield has suggested another birth time,, 10;41 AM, which he took from a newspaper account o af a pirate but I think official ceremony in which the country accepted its new status.
The rationale behind this is the theory that a baby's birth time refers to its first cry, decided by the baby, rather than its expulsion from the womb.
This would give a Moon conjunct the Sun and Uranus and would move the progressed ingresses and New Moons ahead by 162.58 days.
Rather than make a decision now, I will use both until one comes out the winner. The general conclusions are more or less independent of the result at this stage. If anyone has experience with the Penfield chart, I hope he/she will contribute.
