Hello:

I’m interested in finding out what kind of services people expect from astrologers.

If you are a professional astrologer would you care to share what type of astrology you practice and what kind of information/assistance your clients are looking for most often?

Thanks very much.

When I was learning Astrology the site Widget's World was great. I used to post questions and a Lady used to answer them.

She was so accurate that I could have posted ? and she'd have told me the answer to what was on her mind.

She used Horary perhaps NOT as some might like but incredible. It is the Holly Grail.

So you might find that people approach astrologers when The Stars are encouraging them for good or bad. For good use of time or for waste of it.

As a Shaman, all be it an Accidental one, I don't believe you can charge for access to the Dark Arts.

Very hard to read true when you want to be paid unless you take the money upfront.

I see.

Is that the problem then, that I am a beginner?

Point taken.

Your entitled to your opinion Rocko but your view is contradicted by the lives of some of the greatest astrologers in history like William Lilly or Guido Bonatti, who either received payment or had benefactors. I also dont accept astrology is a 'dark art' as this rather implies something sinister about it.

I think its all a question of intention by both parties. I have given free readings and taken money for consultations. I dont think my insights were poorer for charging a fee. The main difference is that at something like a psychic fare the client can be more random than a free reading done for a friend. Occasionally, that can lead to someone out of tune with the whole process. If people are unhappy I would be more comfortable returning their fee to them rather than haggling. But thats just me. I dont need to make a living from astrology. I do it because I love it. I think trying to read for a hard sceptic would be tricky as I think that might make me more inhibited and could limit my ability to work freely with a chart. But that is not really an issue about money exchanging.

People come to astrologers for all kinds of reasons. For some its just seen as something exotic. Some want to know if it can deliver insights into their character or that of family members or partners. That can lead to synastry where two charts are compared for compatibilty and potential areas of tension. Some people also want the chart of a child delineated after their birth.

But most people want answers to practical issues troubling them. Indeed it comes close to covering the gamut of human experience. Its probably the case that people experiencing total contentment in their life dont have much incentive to seek out an astrological consultation or Tarot reading. Most common are questions relating to relationships, family problems, career, and money issues. But there can also be issues like health, business advice, or relocation issues. In horary you see a whole variety of questions. It can even deal with specific issues like for example pregnancy/fertility, lost property or pets. Then you get astrological specialists in areas like health astrology or financial astrology. Some astrologers work psychologically and shun prediction while other astrologers use a variety of techniques to make concrete predictions. You also get astrologers claiming to have insights into previous lives and our karmic inheritance based on the birth chart. Apart from question based (horary) and natal astrology (birth charts) people can seek astrological advice on electing a good time to time something like a wedding, business venture, or publishing a book.

I am still probably only scraping the surface. But I hope this goes some way to answering your question Moonbright.

Mark

Astrology is pure Jupiter.

People are seeking HOPE.

I practice Vedic astrology. People approach me when they lose job to find when they will land a new job. Some would like to know when they will get married.

Regards,
Sujit
