How to succeed at skyscript using astrology :-) 1 by yuzuru It has been a long time that I have this wish of research the skyscript forum for astrological regularities. Some threads make a lot of success, most don?t. Sometimes it is easy to know why, the name of the topic is uninteresting, the question is too narrow to interest many people, the person doesn?t make the point clear... but sometimes interesting questions got months without a single reply, and I thought it would be an interesting quest, since I like quantitative data. Unhappilly, I couldn?t do a really quantitative "hard" research... I don?t have an astrodabank style program, and my SPSS (statistical package) is in home So, the conclusions may seen very narrow, have patience with me, took me a loooong time to discover such simple correlations I will put the results in the end, so if you don?t care about methodology go right there. My first wish was to use the horary forum, or the horary plus nativities forum... the data (I got the data today at noon) showed that the two forum have different working principia. The threads in Horary are almost the double than Nativities, but Nativities have more replyes por thread, and also have a better correlation between views and replyes (Pearson coeficient is 0.85 for Horary and 0.93 for Nativities, but the relationship is non-linear). Basically there are in Horary Forum a lot of questions that need only an answer, but in Nativities the discussion can grown in itself much more easily :-) So I decided to work for now only with Nativities. I analysed about 15 charts, and aparently there are two factors. One factor is Atractivity: High atractivity means the thread will have high number of views and high number of replies. Low atractivity means none cares to look at your post, much less to answer it. The Second Factor is Discursivity (? couldn?t think in a better name) meaning that the number of views is low, but the number of replies is higher that expected. To simplify this little research, since I got some work to do after tomorrow (my vacations are kinda over), I took the 5 threads with most Atractivity, and let Discursivity aside for my retirement, they are: 1 - Eight House and Sex - 194 replies, 3298 views 2 - Algol 67 replies, 2133 views 3 - Constelation of Capricorn 64 replies, 1997 views 4 - Novile and 9 Harmonics 71 replies, 1477 views 5 - Planets closed to cusps 28 replies, 1272 views 6 - Named asteroids in birthcharts 71 replies, 984 views As posting number 5 - "Planets closed to cusps", have a number of replies much lower than the others, I arbitrarily took it out of the research, so "Named asteroids" is the case number 5. I am posting the figures so those who like them can have fun, but they are not necessary to analysis : Replies Views arith mean 11,19512195 352,8943089 max 194 3298 quartil 75% 11,5 347,5 median 4 234 quartil 25% 3 177,5 min 0 84 Total number of replies = 1377 Total number of views= 43406 TNR/TNV = 3,17% As you can see, 50% of the posts have less than 4 posts, what means that most threads don?t arouse any passions. You can see the distribution is very irregular: mean = 75% percentil. I took the numbers today, 11/05/05, at noon. As some threads are new, and possibly will grow much more, I took only threads whose last post was from April 2005 or before. Quote Thu May 12, 2005 12:44 am
But in what place ? 2 by yuzuru The problem after that in "In what place to cast the charts ?". After all a internet forum is everywhere and nowhere. I could cast a chart for the location of the people who started the threads, but most don?t identify their city. So I decided to place the forum in Deb?s location. She said in "Hot sex at skyscript" Why pick on my location? I didn?t start the thread. I didn?t even join it until the end of page 4! But I agree with Kirk: I glance with trepidation at Nottingham. The Skyscript forum is the heartbeat of our collective comings and goings, but we are minor players. Skyscript is the mother beast, and she gave birth to her beastling. Of course my decision is arbitrary, but remember that an horary astrologer uses the time he receives the question, not the time the querent thinks of it. I also believe that the forum was created at Deb?s location, so it must "ressonate" well with the other events. Enough of talking, lets get practical: These are the rules few rules I?m sure for now. Remember that they work for 5 exceptional cases, I am not over with other samples. The most important significators are Third House, First House, Tenth House, Nineth House and Seventh House, more or less in this order. Lord of Hour is of great importance. I am calling significators to the regent of the sign of the cusp, the regent of the sign intercepted inside the house, and sometimes the planet inside the house is important. In most cases there are a lot of combinations between significators, by example, the Lord of first is the same as L10, the Intercepted of 3 is the same as Lord of 3 and Lord of 9, etc. First rule: In the 5 threads with great discussion, Part of Fortune is aspected by less than 2 degrees by the Lord of Hour or an important significator of House 1 or 3 - meaning the Regent, Regent of sign intercepted or Planet in the house near cusp (exception is "8th house and sex": part of fortune sepparates from Lord of Hour by 1degree33) Second Rule: The North Node is aspected by less than 2 degrees by the Lord of Hour or Lord of 3.(Exception: the last post "Named asteroids in birth charts" which have the lower number of views). Other rules 3 by yuzuru Ah I made an mistake above: in one of the cases the aspect to part of fortune was of 3degrees13. Other things: The Ruler of Hour and ruler of AC don?t seen to have any significance in this event. The moon can be void of course if is applying by close aspect to an important significator. In two cases the moon is Lord of Hour, in other two is Lord of AC or is in the first house, and in all cases is trining an important significator (in general Lord of AC, exceptions are when the moon is herself the Lord AC, then she trines Lord of Hour, case 1; and when she trines the Lord of 9, case 3). In all cases Jupiter is making harmonic aspect (trine or sextile) to either Sun, moon, or Lord of Hour. Sometimes make hard aspects with some significators. When I have the time I will look for more things. I know this regularities are anedothical, and that I don?t have any kind of proof. I just think is a very interesting (although exausting) exercise to help us learn our tools... it`s not easy to play Lilly ! In any case, remember: next time you wanna receive more than 60 replies, wait for an right application to part of fortune and north node, an aspect between moon and LAC, and a little help of Jupiter and you got it ! Another little mistake 4 by yuzuru Another mistake, when I said Other things: The Ruler of Hour and ruler of AC don?t seen to have any significance in this event. The moon can be void of course if is applying by close aspect to an important significator. I was thinking in the considerations before judgement: the afinity of ruler of hour with ruler of AC Quote Thu May 12, 2005 11:41 pm
5 by Deb That's an amazing amount of work! Thanks for looking at that. next time you wanna receive more than 60 replies, wait for an right application to part of fortune and north node, an aspect between moon and LAC, and a little help of Jupiter and you got it ! That?s exactly the kind of conditions you would look for in an electional chart if you want to something to receive a lot of public attention. Quote Fri May 13, 2005 10:22 pm
