Interposing (or intervening)

- interposing is a general term meaning 'standing in the middle of'. It can be applied to 'prohibition' which is where two planets are applying to aspect, but before that aspect can perfect, another planet perfects an aspect first. This will mitigate the effects of the applying aspect, for good or bad.

It may also be applied to 'translation of light' - which is where two planets are applying to each other, or even separating from each other, but a third planet moves directly from an aspect of one to an aspect of another and affects the relationship between them.

A good interposing planet can help to lessen the affects of a bad relationship between the other planets and, of course, a bad interposing planet can have a detrimental affect on a relationship that otherwise looks promising.
