The Scottish Astrological Association is happy to announce our June Talk on zoom.

Cycles of Destiny

Using Planetary Cycles to Interpret History and Future Global Trends with Mark Cullen.

Wednesday June 10th, at 7:15-9:00 pm (British Summer Time = GMT/UT +1 hour)

Talk Description

To provide an astrological explanation for events as dramatic as the current coronavirus and its economic impact it is clear we need to transcend a natal view of astrology and examine larger more collective trends. This raises interesting philosophical issues around freewill and determinism and introduces the astrological concept of subsumption. This concept posits a hierarchy within the different branches of astrology and their particular relevance to life events. In looking at such issues astrologers have long relied on a series of planetary cycles to explain world events. This tradition dates back to the early medieval period. However, in modern times the French mundane astrologer André Barbault (1921-2019) pioneered the use of outer planetary cycles to understand historical events and forecast future trends for both specific countries and the world. Using this technique André Barbault correctly predicted a cultural reawakening in the mid 1960s, the end of the Soviet Union and in 2011 forecast a likely pandemic and global depression of unprecedented scale during 2020-2021. Following Barbault’s example this talk will give an overview of the planetary cycles of Saturn to Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto to demonstrate their historical influence. We will also be indulging in some astrological futurism to see where these and other planetary cycles might be leading us all over the next few years.
