Will I enjoy/be safe on the trip?

1
I was hoping for some help with the delineation of this chart.

The question is: Will I enjoy/be safe on the trip?

As usual the question isn?t really the question. Basically I?m booked to fly to Europe on 2nd July for a month and will go sailing in the Greek islands during that time ? wuhu! What an adventure but ?

My concern is that I was diagnosed with blood clots Tuesday last. The specialist has given me clearance to go, as I?m on high dose anti-clotting medication. Naturally, I have my reservations. Especially as I had a rather terrifying and life threatening experience with clots 10 years ago. (I?m only 44 so still very young to be having trouble with such things.

Also, a friend pointed out, I currently have natal Saturn transits. Saturn opp Saturn goes exact next Thursday and Saturn conj Mars goes exact on the day of my departure. She is saying ?stay home?.

Reading Frawley, I understand the essence of the question really has to do with health ? is there further threat to my health if I go? As we already know that I am sick, it?s a case of how sick, is the danger past or will travelling put me at risk?

Bottom line

Bottom line is my concern over the moon separating from the ruler of the 12th by 2 minutes of arc ago (diagnosis 2 days prior ? so we have a time factor) and applying to the ruler of the 8th by 14 minutes of arc (due to depart 14 days after the date of the chart).

Chart Data:
18 June 2009, 6:30pm, Adelaide, Australia 34S55 138E35, Regiomontanus

Asc = Capricorn
Significator of querent = Saturn
2nd Significator of querent = moon
Significator of holiday = ruler of 9th = Mercury

(Chart is located at end of post)

Condition of significators

Journey = 9th = Mercury in Gemini in the 5th. In rulership = the trip will be fantastic and lots of fun.

The querent = Saturn in Virgo in 9th = Peregrine but in good house.
Saturn is cold/dry and Virgo is cold/moist ? difference in temperament is not too extreme, indicating the querent to be of indifferent health, but only slightly ailing (?). However, we know there has been a diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis which is life threatening if untreated.

2nd Significator of querent = Moon in Aries in 4th = Peregrine.
Moon is cold/moist and Aries is hot/dry ? temperaments are extreme opposites indicating the querent to be v.sick.

In identifying the disease, Frawley says to look to either the dispositor of the querent?s significator (if in poor condition), or planets in tight aspect, or even the significator itself. There is nothing much happening with Saturn, so I?ve turned to the moon. Suddenly there is a lot more going on here. In examining the conflicting temperaments of cold/moist and hot/cold, Frawley quotes an example in his book of this combination representing a mass thickening of mucus (?) ? this is good enough to explain a blood clot.

Lilly says the area of the body indicated by Moon in Aries is the knees, where as the 4th house indicates the lungs. Clots are predominantly behind the knee, but some have travelled a bit higher, but are assumed to be confined to the leg.

Moon is in a fixed sign, so this is long existing condition (?) but as the moon is in the last degrees of the sign and will move into its exaltation, it indicates that whilst things wont change in a hurray, all things being equal, things will much improve going forward. (well, doctor is talking medication for life)

Aspects.
Mars (in detriment) is applying to Saturn. ? but no recently separating aspect which might indicate the ?event?.
The Moon has recently separated from Jupiter (ruler of 12th and 3rd) by 2 minutes of arc. The event was diagnosed 2 days prior to the chart, but probably occurred 3 weeks to the day prior to diagnosis.

Moon has recently separated from ruler of the 12th house, house of serious illness / hospitals.

Moon is now applying to the Sun with 14 minutes of arc until exactitude.
Sun is the ruler of the 8th. Eeerrrrr ???????? !!!!!!! ?..

Now the strong Mercury does dispose both Saturn and the Sun, so travel has the upperhand over the querent and death (this is where its easy to begin reading stuff into the chart which may simply not be there). Is it right to also consider the strength of the diagnosis/medicine? Being the 10th (?) which is Venus in rulership, exalting the moon? Ie medication is v.good and protecting the querent?

What would you make of this? What should I be examining and paying attention to and what should be discounting.

I really do see the trip as an exciting adventure, but I also figure it is foolhardy to dismiss the omens ? and I have to make a decision either way, rather quickly.

Outcome

Querent is quite ill with blood clots (Moon in Aires). (LOL but not so sick that I get to stay home from the office)
Medication is good and protecting the querent (medication = 10th = Venus in Taurus, exalting the Moon).
Querent had a serious incident 2 days prior (moon separating from ruler of the 12th by 2 minutes of arc).
There is a risk of further, more serious incident 14 days hence ? day of departure / boarding an international flight (moon applying to ruler of 8th by 14 minutes of arc).
Querent should cancel trip and stay home.

Hi Ann,

Regarding the above, the way I read it, the Moon's last aspect to Jupiter in Aquarius (ruler of the 12th) was a conjunction on about June 13th, and the problem is that Jupiter is now RETROGRADE, and Moon in Aries is just about to aspect it AGAIN with a sextile, with them both APPLYING to each other (i.e., a recurrence of the condition).

Also, Jupiter rules veins; Aquarius, circulation; and Moon, "apoplexy" (aka strokes/clots, etc.). In addition, the Moon is peregrine in "inflamed" Aries and in the DEEP (as in DEEP venous thrombosis) part of the chart (4th house).

It's true that the aspect involved in the above is a sextile, and Jupiter isn't a main significator, so that scenario may not be so ominous per se, BUT I think the real concern is your main significator, Saturn, is in an applying square to the ruler of your 6th/illness, Mercury, so the combination of all those factors together does not sound very good.

I agree that Mercury strong in Gemini and in the 5th of having fun seems really positive, but I just don't think it balances out those other things, unfortunately.

Good luck and God bless, whatever you decide to do!

Hi Ann,

After sleeping on the above, I think I may have gotten a little carried away with some of the symbolism, i.e., jumping to the conclusion that the Moon/Jupiter sextile represents all that medical stuff and some kind of recurrence of the physical condition, just because Jupiter is ruler of the 12th (hospital). Also, Venus (the treatment/medication) dignified and in that nice applying trine to Saturn (you) doesn't really support it. However, as far as the trip goes, I still think the main thing to go by is that square between the main significators, Sat in the 9th (trip) and Mercury in the 5th (fun), as it seems to suggest the condition might be aggravated.

Hi Carol
thank you so much for taking the time to look at the chart for me.
Yes, its easy to get carried away with the symbolism, just as its easy to get carried away when you're too close to the chart - once again supporting the argument against doing your own charts.
Have decided to go on the trip anyway. I have no doubt that flying will aggravate the condition, but also figure I'm stuck with this condition for life, so I'd better get out there and start living.
I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and stay close to my friends. Luckily travelling with a doctor and a nurse, so I couldn't have picked better company.
will let you know when I'm back in August, how it all panned out.
cheers

Ann,

Sounds like you're in the best of hands, and yea, it seems like the most important thing is to keep your legs moving and make sure they're not too cramped on the plane, which I'm sure you plan to do as much as possible, just as at home.

And yes, be sure to let us know how everything went when you get back.

Bon Voyage!
Carol
