Mitt Romney - the next President ? - Why not try a look at this topic from the Chinese view ?

His Bazi - Four Pillars Chart:

Let me take a first (small) step:

People may tell you that M.R. is a "Pig" - meaning that he enjoys being together with mates, having a cozy home etc. All this is certainly more or less true. However, the year pillar where Yin-Pig is found mainly is concerned with one's "family background" - grandparents, also traditions that may be implied there. The year pillar moreover deals with long-time life strategies.
All this is certainly important, especially for a politician who emphasizes "family-traditions", the heritage of one's ancestors etc.

But the pillar that gives thes key to into his personality is the Day Pillar.
In a way it "rules" the chart.
We find Metal Tiger:

Its Na Yin element is strong wood - "pine wood" : stable, can put up with burdens and challenges. Highly ambitious. Focussed on success. Natural authority. Loves the challenge of competition.

No wonder he has decided to play an important part in this year's main US-competition.

... some more observations:
There's practically no earth to be found in this chart. This might be a surprise - one might assume that a wealthy man like M.R. has at least one or two earth- components. The total lack of earth apart from one item in the "Hidden Elements" also means that the day pillar does not get the support it should have - earth being the "mother" of metal.
When you have Tiger, Snake, Monkey and Pig in your chart you have what is called "The Four Courier Horses": it stands for travelling, mobility (might also mean flight). In this case one of the four signs is missing: Monkey. This "missing link" often tells us more than the remaining signs do. Here it may mean a lack in rhetorics as well as in practical skills - definitely not a good omen for a US-candidate.
It is a must to find out how strong the "Day Master" in a chart is. Having a weak day Master does not necessarily mean being a "weak person", having a strong Day Master does not necessarily mean being a "strong person". What matters: Is a weak D.M strengthened by the other components, is a strong D.M. "softened" by the other components ?
Mitt Romney's Day Master is definitely weak (another thread may explain how to find out about the strength of the D.M.)
A strong D.M. can cope with a "clash" - actually it might even need it at times. It's vice versa with a weak DM. With a view at the present "10 years' luck" ("Floating Years" - see chart top-right) M.R. will have serious problems with Yang-Fire in his present Floating Years.
He might win nevertheless - but as can be proved by further evidence this would be most disadvantageous for the US. (This will be dealt with by me later.)

..
Let's go on looking at the day pillar - being the central pillar:
The corresponding Qi-phase is "dissololution" - the weakest of all the phases (there are 12 of them). This may sound more dramatic than it actually is - having this phase is not necessarily negative. However, with the Day Master being weak (already explained) it adds to the evidence - see above. The result: less stable than it may appear at first sight. Euphoria in the beginning, frustration in the end. Too hectic.
The "patterns of personality" (term by Kubny) are called "Deities" in English (a term I find somewhat inappropriate - too metaphysical):
Among others we find the pattern psien tai in the day pillar (Kubny/G?rtz: "Reichtum neigen" - "Prone to wealth" - hoping the translation is more or less accurate):
Wealth partly gained by luck, not primarily on the basis of hard work: lottery, speculation etc. Why not become rich by means of some luck? The problem here: With the day Master (see above) being weak there is a tendency to (mis)using money and luxury to impress. - In a way he is a true representative of a nation in danger of being governed by primarily materialistic values.
